The American Thyroid Association Guidelines Taskforce developed these Management Guidelines for Patients with Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer, published in 2006. The guidelines cover the testing of thyroid nodules and the management of differentiated thyroid cancer (papillary, follicular, and variants).

Topics include testing of nodules, diagnosis, surgery, staging, radioiodine ablation, post-therapy scans, TSH levels, thyroglobulin testing, the use of ultrasound, RAI scans, other imaging techniques, management of metastatic thyroid cancer, and many other topics.

The thyroid cancer specialists who developed the guidelines include many ThyCa medical advisors and conference and workshop speakers. We encourage you to print out these guidelines for your reference.

For more details about the management of differentiated thyroid cancer (papillary, follicular, and variants), visit these sections of our web site.\

Our conferences, workshops, and other events also offer updates from numerous specialists.

Upon request, we will mail your physician a free copy of the guidelines, together with free materials for patients. Please e-mail the physician’s name and address to thyca@thyca.org, or fax the information to the ThyCa fax at 1-630-604-6078, or call toll-free 1-877-588-7904.
