ThyCa Expands Support Group Network to Austin, Texas: Endocrinologist to Speak at First Meeting (11/04)

On Tuesday, November 16, 2004, the Lonestar State will welcome its newest thyroid cancer support group to Austin with a presentation by endocrinologist Simone Scumpia, M.D., F.A.C.E. Dr. Scumpia will speak about thyroid cancer types, risk factors, diagnosis, treatment, and the use of Thyrogen. The free meeting, open to thyroid cancer survivors, families, and caregivers, will take place in the Auditorium on the second floor of the North Austin Medical Center. The group will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The North Austin Medical Center is located at 12221 North Mopac Expressway (1/2 mile south of Parmer Lane exit), Austin, Texas 78758. Dr. Scumpia is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and a Member of the American Thyroid Association. The ThyCa Austin Thyroid Cancer Support Group is the third group formed in Texas. Support groups can also be found in Dallas and Houston.
