Free Sportpacks Help Children with Thyroid Cancer

ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association is pleased to support children and adolescents who are being treated for thyroid cancer.

Thanks to the efforts of a young man named Tim, sportpacks filled with thyroid cancer information, and age-appropriate useful items are available, free of charge, from ThyCa, for children and adolescents diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

More than 15 years ago Tim was a 14-year-old going through treatment for thyroid cancer. He knew firsthand what it was like to be diagnosed and treated for thyroid cancer. At the time, Tim was working on his Eagle Scout Merit Badge and decided to initiate the Thycakids sportspack project.

Pam Mendenhall, ThyCa Pediatric Virtual Support Group Facilitator, and parent of a then 10 year old thyroid cancer survivor shared, “If you know of a young person who is going through thyroid cancer treatment, email us at thyca@thyca.org so we can send them a sportpack.”

ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association, Inc. is an international nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing support services, our free downloadable thyroid cancer handbooks and Low-Iodine Diet Cookbook, free newsletter, awareness materials, and other resources to thyroid cancer survivors, and their families and friends.
