Our guest speaker at the April 10 meeting will be speech pathologist Amy Cannon. She will share information about hoarseness caused from thyroid disorders, swallowing disorders, and other post-surgical voice distress.
Her main focus is voice disorders. She is able to perform video stroboscopies, using a specialized scope to view the integrity of the vocal folds. She also provides intervention for patients with neurological diagnoses, such as CVA, MS, Parkinson's, and ALS. As part of the ALS team, she assesses the needs of patients for swallowing to speech-generating devices, etc.
