Young Adult Support Group

Meets: The ThyCa Young Adult (YA) Support Group holds free virtual meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM Eastern Time.

The ThyCa YA Support Group is for those between the ages of 18 and 35. This group discusses topics of interest regarding young adults currently balancing the experiences of both young adulthood and living with a thyroid cancer diagnosis. Topics may include:
  • Learning to balance gaining independence and "adulting," while still receiving some support from their parents, family, or other caregivers,
  • Navigating diagnosis while furthering education (vocational training, college, etc.) and pursuing a career,
  • Balancing health needs with trying to make friends and dating,
  • Relationships and family planning, and
  • Owning our health care: navigating the health care system and insurance on our own for the first time.
Please email our group facilitators at young-adult-sig@thyca.org for answers to any questions and the instructions on how to join us. Once we give you the instructions, they will be good for all our meetings.

Note: This group is open to participants across the country. Please note the time zone and adjust accordingly.

Nothing discussed at a support group should be considered as a replacement for a doctor's care. We do not give medical advice. We do share support and our own experiences. We are each ultimately responsible for our own care.
